Q&A Answers
Thanks to everyone for their questions - we had too many to cover during the live webinar, so here's the answer to the remaining ones.
Can you give a rough idea of costs for your pocket door systems?
The non-fire rated medium spec kit starts from £270, and the high spec from £680 + VAT.
Is there a self-closing mechanism built into the frame to ensure they're fire-rated?
The fire rated systems don’t have self close; they have to be manually shut in exactly the same way as hinged door.
In a new build, what's the minimum finish partition thickness to accommodate a pocket door?
The minimum thickness for the medium spec kit 95mm and the high spec kit is 150mm.
Do the fire rated systems require any fire stopping during installation (e.g. fire foam / rockwool & mastic)?
It varies from system to system depending what was required to achieve certification - we would factor this this on a project-by-project basis depending on the needs.
What is the maximum width for a single door?
The maximum width for a single door is 1500mm.
Can these doors be attached to a fire alarm system so if the fire alarm activates the door self closes/opens?
Unfortunately this isn't possible at the moment.
Can you or have you automated any of the sliding door systems? We are more regularly being asked by our clients to have automation.
The high spec pocket kits can be automated with PIR sensors to electromechanically open and close.
