Denleigh would like to congratulate Berkeley Group after its leading approach to sustainable development was recognised at the House-builder Awards 2019. At the awards the judges praised the company’s “advanced philosophy”, which has seen Berkeley pioneer Net Biodiversity Gain within the home-building industry and start to measurably increase life across every new site.
Karl Whiteman, Berkeley Group Divisional Managing Director, said:
"Sustainability underpins everything we do and we're proud to be driving positive change in our industry. The built environment sector has a key role to play in restoring nature, making smarter use of resources and tackling climate change. I want to thank our dedicated staff and partners for embracing these challenges and leading the way."
Berkeley has been a carbon positive business since 2018 and is committed to creating new homes that can operate at net zero carbon by 2030. Collaborations with E.ON, to pilot renewable energy technology in the home, and Barclays Bank, to provide the UK's first green home mortgages, also impressed the judges.
